About Forsmark nuclear power plant
Forsmark nuclear power plant lies on the Uppland coast in Östhammar municipality, about 150 km north of Stockholm, and is Sweden's largest nuclear plant. The three boiling water reactors Forsmark 1, 2 and 3 were commissioned in 1980, 1981 and 1985 and together generate around one sixth of Sweden's electricity.

Forsmark hosts SFR, the final repository for short-lived radioactive waste. The spent fuel repository for Sweden's used nuclear fuel, approved by the government in 2022, is also being built here.
